What is CAM's "Virtual University?"

"Virtual University" is what we're calling the platform for our online training courses. Clicking on the Virtual University link takes you to a secure site where you can select, preview, and purchase online courses.

How does it work?

The process is pretty straightforward:

1. Open CAM's Virtual University page


2. Select one of the Course Catalogs to view the available courses in that particular catalog.







3. Select an individual course. If you want to preview the course, click on the Sample link. If you want to purchase the course, click on the ONLINE box and a checkmark will appear. When you have selected all of the course you want to purchase (there are checkmarks in the ONLINE box), click on the ADD TO CART icon.
   
   
   


4. At the checkout preview page, confirm the class or classes you have selected and click on the Checkout and Proceed link.


5. If this is the first time you have used our Virtual University, you will be asked to create a new account by filling in the requested information on the Registration page. If you already have an account, you'll be asked to sign in.


6. At the Checkout page, you'll be prompted for your credit card information. All major credit cards are accepted and your transaction is handled over secure servers for your protection.


7. Once your credit card has been accepted, your course should begin automatically. All you have to do is to follow the prompts in order to page forward or back. Periodically, you will asked questions to test your understanding of the material.





8. From your individual Profile Page, you can manage the courses you have taken by printing out Certificates of Completion or receipts, or by changing any personal information.

That's it! The entire process is straightforward and easy to understand. Once you have created an account and signed in, you can leave a course at any time and then take up right where you left off at a later date.

Who is 360 Training?

360Training is the creator and actual provider of the Virtual University software platform. You will see their name and/or logo appear on some of the course materials. 360Training is a leading supplier of online training materials and provides the software support for CAM's Virtual University.

How much do courses cost?

The price of the course will depend on how long and extensive it is. For example a 1-hour course will range from $19 to $25 while a 40-hour HAZWOPER course is $475.

All courses have the prices clearly listed along with the number of hours it will take to complete the course. You can also sample any course to make sure it's the one you need.

How long does it take to complete a course?

All courses have the number of hours that it will take to complete the course listed next to the course name in the Course Catalog. The number of hours listed is pretty close to actual "seat time." For example, a 1-hour course will require you to be in front of the computer for 1 hour. Since OSHA requires a 1 hour class to actually last 1 hour, you cannot fast-forward or skip sections.

Are the courses accepted by OSHA and/or Cal-OSHA

Yes. All of the OSHA courses meet the criteria for acceptable training as defined by OSHA and/or Cal-OSHA regulations.

Do I get proof that I completed the course?

Yes. When you successfully complete a course, you have the option of printing out a Certificate of Completion. This serves as your proof that you successfully completed the course.

If you lose your Certificate or receipt for a particular course, you can always log in to your account and print out another one.

What happens if I have to stop in the middle of a course?

When you first "enroll" in CAM's Virtual University, you are required to register and create a personal account. Every time you work on a course or need to access your account, you'll be asked to log in.

If you are taking a course and have to stop in the middle, the place where you left off is stored in your personal account. By logging in to your account, you can easily pick right back up where you left off, even if you had to pause the course several days or weeks ago.

Do I have to pass a test in order to complete a course?

Yes. OSHA requires that a student show understanding of the course material. This requirement is accomplished by testing. However, instead of giving you a long "final exam" at the end of the course, CAM's Virtual University breaks it up by asking a couple of questions after each section or chapter of the course.

Most courses require that you answer the questions correctly before continuing on to the next section. If you miss a question, you will have the opportunity to review the material before being asked the question again.

What's included in a typical course?

Courses are multimedia and contain a mixture of text, graphics, photographs, video, and sound. You'll hear the lines of text being read through your computer's speakers as it's scrolled on to the screen.

What do I need to get started?

To participate in CAM's Virtual University, you will need:

1. IBM PC Compatible Computer (minimum 200 MHz processor with 32MB RAM)
2. Sound Card with speakers or headphones
3. SVGA (800x600) video card, driver, and monitor
4. Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP
5. Internet connection (minimum 56Kbps recommended)
6. Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 or greater
7. Macromedia Shockwave/Flash Player 7.0
